Executive Chef Steve Samples
Chef Steve Samples is an American born chef who is a Charleston, West Virginia native. He developed a love for all cuisine at an early age. After completing a culinary apprentice program at Carver Career Center in Charleston, Chef Steve began his culinary career at The Market under Chef Richard Arbaugh, CEC, CCA. Chef Steve has worked at The Market for the past seven years, rising to the role of Executive Chef in 2017. Throughout his career he has been an advocate for local farmers, and a strong supporter of The James Beard Foundation. He has cooked at The James Beard House twice, alongside fellow Chef and mentor Richard Arbaugh.
Steve is a member of the American Culinary Federation. He has earned his ACF certification as a Certified Sous Chef. Steve was a member of the winning team from West Virginia in the Multi-State Battle of Appalachia Cook Off. Currently, Chef Steve is working towards becoming a Certified Executive Chef. From foraging, fishing, and growing vegetables; Steve is always focused on food.
